The project was created for my graduation thesis at ESPM. The client chosen was Free Walk Porto Alegre, a project which aims to give free tour for tourists in the city of Porto Alegre. Their communication with the audience was confusing and not effective, which made some people write bad reviews about them, making people choose other ways to know the city, afraid they were going to have a bad experience.
So the aim of this project was to create a map for the city which they would give the tourists on the beginng of the tour, so they could maintain the connection with the tourists even after the tour ended, giving them the best insider tips about the city. The concept was mainly to make people come back to paper maps, live the city on foot and interact with something playful and fun.
A collection of 4 maps was created, in a way that each one would contain a different neighbourhood, that once together would create the touristic/historic area of the city. Each map would reflect to characters, colour and sightseeing the atmosphere of each place, making it easier for tourist to relate to each of them. The maps would also have different tour routes tourists could do by themselves later on, connecting bars, museus, markets, so the maps could be self-sufficient and interactive.
